Nowadays, when we do an internet search we easily find myths related to monocrystalline photovoltaic solar panels and polycrystalline. In this sense, we have decided to put together a set of myths that should be cleared up:

  1. The higher the ambient temperature, the solar panels polycrystalline photovoltaics produce more as opposed to monocrystalline photovoltaic panels. Myth.So the former produce the same compared to the latter, both produce less energy as they heat up.
  2. There are photovoltaic solar panels that produce even when it rains.Myth. In other words, all photovoltaic modules produce energy in bad weather, they simply produce less.
  3. Monocrystalline photovoltaic solar panels, due to their higher efficiency, produce more than polycrystalline. Myth. Efficiency only tells us the watts/m2,monocrystallines take up less space. For the same power output, monocrystalline and polycrystalline produce the same if the manufacturer's quality is the same.
  4. A photovoltaic solar panel with more watts is better. Myth. They are only bigger, not better or more advanced. In this sense, for economic reasons, the photovoltaic modules with greater power are preferable in large works, to reduce the cost of labour, hence their existence.
  5. A polycrystalline photovoltaic solar panel has a shorter lifetime than a monocrystalline and therefore degrades more easily. Myth. Nowadays this is no longer the case. Thus, the degradation and durability between the two types of panels is similar.
